Becoming a Mental Health First Aider...

MHFA won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.  We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Ill mental health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.

Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.

All our training/booking is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the charity, please ask for more details.

Prevention & Postvention Suicide Workshops

Essex has a significantly worse rate of suicide than the national average. Areas of particular concern are Tendring and Colchester—which have the second and third-highest rates of suicide in the country. We offer this course in the CO postcode for families and friends, as well as workplaces that have been affected by suicide.

For employers:

An employee dying by suicide can have an extremely significant impact on the workplace. This training workshop has been designed to provide employees with tools to take preventative actions to reduce the risk of suicide and also to demonstrate steps that can be taken by an organisation to provide support after someone dies of suicide.

For families & friends:

This training programme has been devised to support families and individuals affected by suicide, enabling them to deal with the impact of suicide and the subsequent challenges to their own (and family members’) mental health, including increased risk of suicide and/or self-harm, and feelings of isolation/loneliness.

These workshops are FREE and last for 4 hours variety of dates are available and in-house training can be arranged.

Fully funded by North East Essex Health & Wellbeing Alliance.
